ENTITLEMENT FOR SCHOLARSHIP AS CASE OF “Rewarding Excellence” (S.No.42)

A 5th year student at NLU, Nagpur, Ravi belongs to a middle-income joint family. His father is a teacher, whereas his mother is a housewife, generating a net annual income of Rs. 6.5 Lakhs as of FY 2019-20, a major proportion of which goes to expenses incurred on his grandfather’s medical expenses. A highly meritorious student with his track record to prove it, he has consistently been at top of his class and maintained a near 8 GPA and 95% attendance. In addition to academia, he also participated in different extra-curricular activities since the very outset of his law school ranging from Moot Courts to Client Counselling in many of which he emerged winner or the top contender. Naming a few, he was the winner at Treaty Negotiation Competition 2018 at KIIT Bhubaneswar and winner of Justice P. Govinda Menon. Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy, in 19th National Client Counselling Competition. In order to further supplement his career prospects, he has interned with different organizations ranging liks CTIL, wherein he assisted researchers on India-US solar dispute which was filed by India at WTO.

His leadership skills are evident from the fact that he has consistently held positions of management with different organizations ranging from Team Leader of IDIA at NLU Nagpurto organising various legal awareness camps in villages near his University. Moreover, like the CAN foundation which believes in upliftment of underprivileged individuals, Ravi has extended his support through organizations like IDIA as well as held a fundraiser programme to support financially weak students to obtain admission in law schools. A going to be, first generation lawyer in his family and amongst the few in his village who finished a professional degree, he sincerely hopes that the scholarship will help him to complete his education and finally give back to society.

Ravi holds an excellent academic record and has maintained good academic credentials. He has also participated in various Moot Court and Client Counselling competitions and has emerged as a winner in these competitions. He has been shortlisted as the Eklavya Scholar so that he can complete his legal education and be a beacon of hope for many underprivileged in his village.
